RS3 plugins and how to get more from them

Jagex has opened an official plugin hub in beta. Here is what it is, what the five plugins do, and where RuneSquire fits: planning your session on the web, so plugins have something worth doing in the game.

What the plugin hub beta is

On 6 October 2026 Jagex launched the RS3 plugin hub in beta. Plugins are made by community developers and run in the game. At launch there are five, and you try them on the beta worlds.

Public developer access isn't open yet. Jagex has said it intends to open plugin development more widely in October, which is an announcement rather than a guarantee.

The five beta plugins

Plan on the web, play with plugins

Plugins help once you're in the game. They can't tell you what's worth doing tonight. RuneSquire does that job, so you log in with a plan.

RuneSquire, before you log in

  • Choose what to do tonight from your own levels and quests.
  • See which quests you can start, and what blocks the rest.
  • Work out the levels and unlocks between you and a goal.

Plugins, while you play

  • Follow a quest step by step on screen.
  • Swap menu options, mark tiles and hide clutter.
  • Read combat resources and cooldowns in a fight.

RuneSquire doesn't sync with plugins or the game client. It starts from your public RuneScape name, so there is nothing to install.

Questions about RS3 plugins

What are RS3 plugins?

Plugins are add-ons that run inside RuneScape 3 and change what you see or how you click, such as overlays, markers and quest guidance. Jagex has started an official plugin hub in beta, with five plugins from community developers.

Which plugins are in the official beta?

Quest Helper, Menu Entry Swapper, Tilemarkers, Entity Hider and Job Gauges. You can try them on the beta worlds.

Can I write my own RS3 plugin?

Not yet. Public developer access isn't available, and Jagex has said it intends to open plugin development more widely in October. That is an announcement, not a delivery date.

Does RuneSquire connect to plugins or the game client?

No. RuneSquire is a website. It reads your public Hiscores and RuneMetrics data from your RuneScape name, so nothing is installed and nothing connects to the game.

Why use RuneSquire if I use plugins?

Plugins help while you play. RuneSquire helps before you log in: what to work on tonight, which quests you can start, and what is blocking the thing you want.

Know what to do before you load a plugin.

Type your RuneScape name and RuneSquire builds tonight's plan from your public levels and quests. Free while it's in pilot.
