Mining training methods
Copper: tin
Your best pick at level 1
Levels 1–29
3 methods- 1–10Medium effortFreeYou're here5kXP/h
- 1Players should begin by mining copper rocks and/or tin rocks.
- 2The Ashdale mine contains two rocks of each type close together as well as a nearby furnace for storage.
- 3Players can continually mine from the same rock, but should switch to rocks with rockertunities when these spawn.
- 4Using a Dwarven army axe will speed up experience rates, as it grants an extra 3 xp per strike as well as a chance at giving an additional 17 xp if an uncut lapis lazuli is found.
- 5With level 1-10 Mining players should gain an experience rate equivalent to around 5,000 experience an hour, and should achieve level 15 Mining after around 20 minutes.
- 6If they want to keep the ore, they can store it in the metal bank by going a short distance south and using the "Deposit-All" option on the furnace, forge or anvil, which puts all ores in the inventory or in the ore box into the metal bank.
- 10–20Medium effortFreeIn 9 levels15kXP/h
- 1At level 10 players can start mining from iron rocks; these can be found in the South-west Lumbridge swamp mining site and South-west Varrock mining site.
- 2Players should gain around 15,000 experience an hour at these levels.
- 3At level 15 players unlock Energetic Mining, which allows the player to deal increased damage per swing to rocks while mining by actively clicking the rock.
- 4See Mining for more information.
- 5This guide assumes that from level 15 onwards the player is maintaining a moderate level of activity; players who maintain 100% stamina may be able to gain higher experience rates.
- 20–30High effortFreeIn 19 levels25kXP/h
- 1From level 20-30 Mining players should mine coal rocks, which can be found in several mines, with Gunnarsgrunn mine having very fast access of the metal bank.
- 2At these levels players should be able to gain around 25,000 experience an hour.
Levels 30–49
2 methods- 30–40Medium effortFreeIn 29 levels40kXP/h
15 Dungeoneering- 1With level 30 Mining players can begin mining mithril rocks for around 40,000 experience an hour.
- 2Mithril rocks can be found at the Varrock south-west mine and Varrock south-east mine.
- 3Dwarven Mine resource dungeon requires 15 Dungeoneering, but is the best site as the mithril rocks are extremely close to a bank deposit box (one rock is so close you can deposit ore without moving).
- 40–50Medium effortFreeIn 39 levels45kXP/h
60 Mining
45 Dungeoneering- 1At level 40 players may choose to mine adamantite rocks or luminite rocks; both of which give around 45,000 experience an hour.
- 2Luminite rocks are located in two mines in the Dwarven mines.
- 3Mining Guild resource dungeon requires 45 Dungeoneering and 60 Mining.
- 4Dwarven luminite mine is right outside of Dwarven Mine resource dungeon and thus you can make use of the same deposit box as before, so it is recommended.
- 5Adamantite rocks can be found at the Rimmington mining site and South-east Varrock mining site.
Levels 50–69
3 methods- 50–99Medium effortFreeIn 49 levels60kXP/h
60 Mining- 1Runite rocks can be mined with at least level 50 Mining.
- 2The rocks can be mined in the South and North Crandor mining sites, and in the Mining Guild (requires 60 Mining).
- 3The Guild is in close proximity to the Artisans' Workshop, giving access to metal banks for quick banking.
- 4This gives around 60,000 experience an hour, at level 50 Mining.
- 5Players can take advantage of a rune ore box, which can be purchased from the Grand Exchange or created with level 50 Smithing.
- 6These allow you to store 120 runite ore, allowing for less frequent banking.

- 1Shooting Stars are a Distraction and Diversion which spawn randomly throughout the world.
- 2They yield very high rates of experience.
- 3They are the best experience source for medium to high levelled mining players.
- 4There are no limits to how many stars that can be mined per day.
- 5Stars can be located by using telescopes either at Varrock Library or the floor NaN of Wizards Tower.
- 6The latter can be teleported to directly with stardust.
- 7A player may also be notified through a friend or their clan that a shooting star has appeared at a particular location on a certain world.
- 8In addition to the mining experience, once the star has been completely destroyed, the player has the opportunity to talk to the Star Sprite to receive valuable rewards and a 15 minute +25% ore boost to any rocks mined.
- 9Various other rewards may also be purchased there.
- 10Mining a size 5 star down to its core, which is the largest size available to free players, takes 25 minutes and grants around 36,700 experience, which comes to an effective 88,000 experience per hour.
- 11If you skip the last two sizes—which take longer and yield less experience—it instead takes 13:30 minutes and grants around 32,500 experience, which comes to an effective 144,400 experience per hour, or 172,500 per hour with a Strong mining urn.

- 1At level 60, players may mine either orichalcite rocks or drakolith rocks.
- 2Orichalcite ore rocks may only be found in the Mining Guild, Wilderness (level 9) south-west mine and Anachronia canyon mine.
- 3Drakolith rocks can be found at the Tai Bwo Wannai mine, Heroes' Guild mine, Mining Guild resource dungeon, Wilderness (level 14) volcano mine, Anachronia canyon mine and Al Kharid resource dungeon.
- 4By mining either type of rock the player will gain around 70,000 experience an hour.

Necrite rocks can be found in the Uzer mine, Wilderness (level 35) hobgoblin mine and Al Kharid resource dungeon; phasmatite rocks are located in the Port Phasmatys south mine, Haunted Mine - Level 2, Haunted Mine - Level 6, and Dwarven Mine resource dungeon after completion of the hard Daemonheim achievements.
- 1At level 70, players can mine either phasmatite rocks or necrite rocks for around 90,000 experience an hour.
- 2Necrite rocks can be found in the Uzer mine, Wilderness (level 35) hobgoblin mine and Al Kharid resource dungeon; phasmatite rocks are located in the Port Phasmatys south mine, Haunted Mine - Level 2, Haunted Mine - Level 6, and Dwarven Mine resource dungeon after completion of the hard Daemonheim achievements.
- 3With low quest points, only the level 35 wilderness hobgoblin mine may be accessible.
- 4It can be reached using the wilderness lodestone, and has a bank nearby at the forgotten cemetery (and with higher combat, the lava maze).
- 5Due to the mechanics behind rockertunities, mining from the southern-most rock shown (A) will only produce rockertunities in rocks 1, 2, and 3.
- 6This allows lower-level players to avoid aggression from dark beasts on the west side of the mines, abyssal creatures do not wander this far north, and overall allows a more compact and safer experience for most players.
- 7Rockertunities on rock 1 may be difficult to see depending on graphics settings.
- 8If no opportunities are seen, a quick hit to check rock 1 is an effective reset.
- 9Banking in this location is quite easy.
- 10Ian is directly to the west, with good protection from dark beasts.
- 11Edmond occasionally wanders from the east into the mining area, and Darren is the closest directly to the north, however there are aggressive glacors.

It can be mined from the Wilderness (Level 54) Pirates' Hideout mine west of the Mage Arena, from the Arctic (azure) habitat mine, from the Glacor cavern mine after Ritual of the Mahjarrat, from the Tarshak's Sanctum (Abomination Mine) after Hero's Welcome, or from the Jatizso dungeon elite mine after completing the elite Fremennik achievements.
- 1From level 80, players can mine banite rocks for around 105,000 experience an hour.
- 2It can be mined from the Wilderness (Level 54) Pirates' Hideout mine west of the Mage Arena, from the Arctic (azure) habitat mine, from the Glacor cavern mine after Ritual of the Mahjarrat, from the Tarshak's Sanctum (Abomination Mine) after Hero's Welcome, or from the Jatizso dungeon elite mine after completing the elite Fremennik achievements.
- 3The Pirates' Hideout mine is next to a forge and anvil to deposit ores into the metal bank and has no requirements to access, making it the most convenient location for training.
- 4Hallvar in the last location can note banite ore.
- 5For players with a Dungeoneering cape, the Brimhaven metal dragons teleport can be used to quickly access the Abomination mine.

- 1Starting at level 89, players who have completed Plague's End can mine corrupted ore for around 150,000 experience an hour.
- 2Corrupted ore is mined from Seren stones in the Trahaearn Clan's district of Prifddinas.
- 3Although corrupted ore is not a core rock and thus is ineligible for rockertunities or levelling bonuses, it has a 1.2 experience multiplier.
- 4This means that it will generally grant better experience per hour than banite or animica, which have multipliers of 0.82 and 0.84, respectively.
- 5Up to 270,000 experience an hour or more can be achieved at level 110 Mining with buffs.
- 6Corrupted ore stacks and uses no stamina, which makes it an excellent choice for AFK mining.
- 7Corrupted ore is untradeable, but can be smelted for fairly quick Smithing experience.

- 5During the Voice of Seren in Trahaearn district, rocks in the Trahaearn runite mine, Trahaearn adamantite mine, Trahaearn mithril mine, and Trahaearn coal mine can randomly harmonise into a mixture of light and dark animica, potentially creating better arrangements for rockertunities, and giving 20% extra ores.

To find alaea crablets, the player must first gain some chimes from skilling in The Arc so that they can purchase the supplies required to voyage to Uncharted Isles.
Doing contracts, however, requires chimes to be able to re-roll contracts until satisfactory alaea crablet ones are assigned.
- 1At level 97 Mining, players can begin mining alaea crablets.
- 2Alaea crablets are a rare Mining resource that can be found randomly on Uncharted Isles.
- 3Each day the player may mine for around 35 minutes at each colony of alaea crablets, gaining around 90,000 experience per colony before it is depleted.
- 4The daily cap resets at 00:00 UTC.
- 5Uncharted Isles can be explored from The Arc region, which requires completion of the Impressing the Locals quest to access.
- 6Completion of the Flag Fall miniquest, which allows the player to claim an uncharted isle and return to it, is also recommended to hunt alaea crablets effectively.
- 7To find alaea crablets, the player must first gain some chimes from skilling in The Arc so that they can purchase the supplies required to voyage to Uncharted Isles.
- 8Supplies can be purchased from Rosie.
- 9When the player finds an Uncharted Isle inhabited by colonies of alaea crablets then they can claim the island using a claim island flag.
- 10Once an uncharted isle is claimed the player may return to it for the price of three supplies per voyage: five supplies per day can be claimed for free from the box next to Rosie.
- 11Up to three colonies of alaea crablets may be present on an Uncharted Isle, if the player opts to go on a long voyage.
- 12Alaea crablets yield alaea sea salt.
- 13When selling the alaea sea salt gained from mining alaea crablets players can expect to gain enough chimes to cover the cost of purchasing supplies to go on additional long voyages to find more alaea crablets and thus mine from them indefinitely.
- 14Purchasing the supplies cost reductions and commodity sell price increases unlocks from the Waiko Reward Shop, in addition to having a claimed island with as many alaea crablet colonies as possible, will further increase the viability of searching for crablets to mine continuously.
- 15At level 99 mining alaea crablets gives an experience rate of around 190,000 Mining experience an hour.
- 16The experience from mining alaea crablets can further be bolstered by completing contracts given by Sojobo on Waiko or via a contract contact on an uncharted isle.
- 17Players may complete up to three contracts daily and may purchase upgrades from Boni for a maximum of seven daily contracts.
- 18Doing contracts, however, requires chimes to be able to re-roll contracts until satisfactory alaea crablet ones are assigned.

If not using a primal ore box, a useful spot for training is at the promethium rocks on Daemonheim Peninsula Island due to the bank deposit box located on the island (the deposit box requires completion of the medium Daemonheim achievements to access).
- 1At level 100, players can begin mining for primal ores found all around Daemonheim.
- 2If not using a primal ore box, a useful spot for training is at the promethium rocks on Daemonheim Peninsula Island due to the bank deposit box located on the island (the deposit box requires completion of the medium Daemonheim achievements to access).
- 3From level 105 mining onwards, experience rates here are at least 250,000 XP per hour using the aforementioned items and boosts.
- 4It is recommended to start mining these ores at level 103 Mining for the double ore chance.
